Abstract

The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) have established standards for representing nucleic acids and amino acids with single capital letters. The tables provided in this appendix summarize the codes for bases in nucleic acid sequences and individual amino acid residues within protein sequences.
