ImageJ Java Applet

ImageJ is an open source, public domain, Java-based image processing program developed at the National Institutes of Health by Wayne Rasband. It is made available here to the community at currentprotocols.com as a Java applet (requiring Java v. 1.4 or higher). ImageJ can display, edit, analyze, process, save, and print 8-, 16-, and 32-bit images and can read image file formats including (but not limited to) TIFF, PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP, DICOM, FITS, and RAW. ImageJ’s capabilities for quantitative image analysis make it a useful tool in biological imaging, in particular photomicrography (see Current Protocols in Molecular Biology Unit 14.15).
